Up yours Facebook

*apologies for the profanity*

I've just shut down my Facebook account. Because it's damaging my calm. And that's not good. So if you're here from there, the gist is this: I've belatedly realised it's a toxic pile of crap. Talk about being on the ball.

Yeah it's great for memes, and Betoota Advocate articles, and endless Richmond angst for the amusement of all, and most importantly, arguing over trivial shit at 1am when I should be asleep and looking after myself... No wait, that last bit isn't so great. It's alarmingly addictive, and I can easily lose hours just scrolling aimlessly and feel myself drifting down and down in to a pit of... nothing. I don't really need to know what's going on with everyone's life. That's what actual human contact is for - still need to work on that bit. God knows my life is enough at this point in time.  The personal data thing? Well, we're all in neck deep at this point and this blog is on a Google platform so they already know what's in my pantry anyway. Meh, so be it.

But I don't need Facebook. I want to simplify life, to focus on what's important. I handed over being Event Director for Mt Clarence parkrun for precisely that reason. I've got goals and better relationships I want to achieve in my personal and professional life, and Derpbook just gets in the way. I'll try and be a little more active here, memes and Richmond angst can be found on Twitter (although that's also a pile of steamed hams and very likely to be chopped if it becomes a sink hole) or Reddit. My fantasy life is on Instagram. I'm in the process of rehabilitation from an MCL strain. I've got the Middle aged Mixtape podcast with Clint, and maybe some writings for fell in love with a girl. Shaun asked me to be a race director for his walk of the damned in February... Jesus, I'm all over the place. No wonder I'm punchy.
